"for He satisfies the hungry and fills the thirsty with good things."

What is that in your hand?

Remember that staff of Moses which God used to let him demonstrate many miracles?

He raised it over the red sea and the sea parted to make way for fleeing Israel.(Exodus 14:16)

He used it to strike the rock that gushed out water in the wilderness.(Exodus 17:6)

During the battle against Amalek, the raised staff translated victory for the Israelites.(Exodus 17:9-13)

Where did this amazing staff come from?
When God called Moses, He asked a fearful middle-aged shepherd, "What is that in your hand?" It was a shepherd's rod. Something Moses must have used daily as a shepherd in Jethro's camp. God was going to use this ordinary object to show Moses' connection with Him. In time, it will come to be a symbol of God's power and authority for Israel.
However this wasn't some magic staff; wielding it needed to be coupled with faith on the great Power-source, the Lord.  Moses needed some practice with this as he repeatedly mentioned his inadequacy before the Lord.. Notice that at first it was Aaron's staff that turned into a snake before Pharaoh (Exodus 7:10) and that turned water into blood (Exodus 7:19-20). But eventually Moses learned to believe and surrender what it was in his hand to be completely used by God.

What is that in your hand?
It could be something as ordinary to you as the staff was to Moses.
But dedicate it unto the Lord. He will use it for His glory.
